Richard Brown is the third generation on the family property at Kiwitea. The Bankhead flock was established in 1917 and was an inaugural member of the National Flock Recording Scheme, the predecessor of SIL. Careful attention has always been placed on the significant economic traits of the time - wool in the 1950-60s and in more recent times growth rate and fertility.

"Our aim is to produce sound quality rams that will perform profitably in commercial clients' flocks. Clients need to see tangible results in terms of higher performance and dollar returns. Collecting and using accurate information is the catalyst to being a successful and reliable ram breeder. That means accurate tagging at birth and in collection of all recorded traits and ensuring all animals are only compared when given equal opportunity. The utilisation of latest technologies, such as A.I., muscle scanning, wool sample analysis will enhance production and efficiency."

Richard will also have East Fresian, Suffolk, Romney and Texel rams (plus composites) available for sale in the 2005 season.
